Anurag Basu
MID-DAY (May 22, 2017)

For the past four years, Anurag Basu has been planning a biopic on music legend Kishore Kumar starring Ranbir Kapoor. However, the filmmaker's wish to make it three in a row with the actor — after 'Barfi' (2012) and upcoming release, Jagga 'Jasoos' — may not materialise.

Basu has revealed he might make the Kishore biopic with another actor if RK is unable to give dates. Dismissing rumours of the project being shelved, he told PTI, "I don't know with whom I will make the film and when exactly. After Sanjay Dutt biopic, Ranbir will be busy with another film, [Ayan Mukerji's] 'Dragon'. I don't want to wait for too long for my [much-delayed] film, so if Ranbir can't give dates this year, I will go with someone else."

Basu is keen to start the film by this year-end. His next, 'Jagga Jasoos' starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, is slated to hit screens in mid-July. "We will start promotions two-three weeks before the release. The trailer will be out by May-end. There are over 25 songs in the film. It's a musical and we have to convey that to the audience," he added.
