Mirror had earlier reported (Nov 29, 2016) about Vidya Balan returning as an RJ for Tumhari Sulu, over a decade after playing one for Rajkumar Hirani’s 2006 comedy, Lage Raho Munna Bhai. The film, which will have the actress play the titular role of Sulochna aka Sulu, took off with a pooja on a heart-warming note on Friday with the mothers of the actress, all the producers — Atul Kasbekar, Tanuj Garg, Shanti Sivaramand director Suresh Triveni — present to flag off the shoot. Co-producer Bhushan Kumar’s mother couldn’t make it as she was in Delhi at the time.
On Sunday, the team will kick off a song sequence in Worli, proceeding towards the suburbs to Bandra, Andheri and Borivali. They’re aiming at wrapping up work by the third week of June in Mumbai.
The film marks the directorial debut of ad-man Suresh who is known for the India-Pakistan ‘Mauka Mauka’ commercial that aired during ICC World Cup 2015.
Atul had told Mirror in an earlier interview, “This gem of a script will make you cheer and laugh. The character of Sulu is fun, happy-golucky but grounded, everything that Vidya is even in real life.”
Film and stage actor Manav Kaul was recently brought on-board to play Vidya’s husband in the slice-of-life film.
