FAST & FURIOUS 8 did good business on its paid previews with collections around 5.50 crore as per early estimates though the final number will depend on where the Telugu and Tamil versions end at. It was just a half day release but it has still managed to open better than all the Hindi films this year barring RAEES, JOLLY LLB 2, BADRINATH KI DULHANIA and KAABIL. No other Hindi film has managed to cross the 5 crore nett mark on day one. XXX: RETURN OF XANDER CAGE also had paid previews earlier this year and it had grossed 2.23 crore nett but that was an evening release while this is afternoon.

FAST & FURIOUS is the biggest Hollywood brand in India if we go by collections of the previous films but its hard to judge FAST & FURIOUS 8 by its Wednesday collections as its not a complete release. Today will give a better idea where it stands and how it compares with biggest opening days for Hollywood in India. The last film had grossed 12 crore nett on day one but it was a holiday. That was the highest opening for a Hollywood release in India but that may be a bit too much too expect from FAST & FURIOUS 8 as it has probably consumed some of its first day audience in the paid previews.

The Hindi release BEGUM JAAN will open on Friday but that's unlikely to give much competition toFAST & FURIOUS 8.
--------------------------
FAST & FURIOUS 8 had a good first full day as it grossed 9 crore nett which takes its two day figures to 14.50 crore nett. The film was helped by evening shows being strong due to a holiday the next day and collections in Delhi city and Punjab being helped by the holiday for Vaisakhi. The film is doing well but it will be the next few days that will tell whether it can match up to the last film. It is a holiday today so collections should go up and then there is the weekend to come. What is sure is that the film will become the highest grossing Hollywood film in 2017 in India by the end of its extended first weekend. The collections of Fast & Furious 8 till date are as follows.
Wednesday (Paid Previews) - 5,50,00,000
Thursday - 9,00,00,000
TOTAL - 14,50,00,000

The film is generally doing well across the country but the dubbed versions over the first two days have not performed as well as FAST & FURIOUS 7 which could keep it short of that film. FAST & FURIOUS 7 was huge in Hindi grossing close to 40 crore nett and going by first two day occupancy for this one its going to be tough to match. Though it could also be that the awareness is less in smaller cities of a Wednesday release and it improves on the traditional first day Friday.
