After
penning chartbusters like Bajirao Mastani’s “Malhari” and “Gajanana”,
lyricist Prashant Ingole received the thumbs-up from director Ashim
Ahluwalia and composer duo Sajid-Wajid in the form of an offer to score a
track for Daddy.
And when Arjun Rampal finally heard “Jai Ganesha” — the celebratory track written by Prashant, he loved it. “I was happy that for an underworld-related film, I’d managed to get into the skin of the character to write a song for the protagonist,” recalls Prashant, who has also re-written three numbers for the Hindi dubbed version of the recently released Beauty and The Beast.
“Jai Ganesha”, which features in the upcoming biopic of gangster-politician Arun Gawli, was shot in a night sequence at a real location in Versova with the director making several last minute changes to incorporate action and emotion into the sequence. “But the many changes only improved the song, making it a high-octane number. Sajid-Wajid are brilliant and all of us were dancing as the song was being recorded at the studio. And on the set, Arjun brought in a different energy altogether,” Prashant beams.
