Imran Khan has decided to follow his maamu jaan’s example and is working on a script he wants to direct, even as he reads scripts and listens to story narrations for acting offers. Close friend, writer Ayesha DeVitre (she wrote Kapoor & Sons) are pouring over potential scripts.

“Ayesha and Imran are said to be working on a germ of an idea that they are still developing into a screenplay. About people and relationships, Imran wants to direct it sometime soon and has thought about producing it, too. Imran won’t act in the film as he believes he needs to don one cap at a time,” says our source.

The fact is, Imran has always wanted to be a director. Films just happened by chance. Direction was his first love. The source explains his working style, adding, “Like his grandfather Nasir Hussain, uncle Mansoor and Aamir, he will first write the script and then find a producer, actors, locations and dates.”

Right now, all work around his directorial debut involve putting his and Ayesha’s thoughts down on paper. Writing scripts take time and he’s enjoying the process of writing a screenplay.”

Ayesha is an old friend of Imran and wife Avantika (both were school friends) and was his hairstylist in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.
