RAEES did very well on its second day as it grossed 26 crore nett plus making it the highest collections ever on Republic Day beating the figures of JAI HO in 2014. More importantly the numbers have come with a clash and it is the highest ever collection that any film has collected on any single day when it has clashed with another major release. The growth from the previous day is 30% which is good as the opening was strong. The two day total for the film is 46.50 crore nett and business is strong all over barring Delhi city and East Punjab. The film is very strong in Mumbai, South and West Bengal. The first two day business of RAEES is as follows.
Wednesday - 20,25,00,000
Thursday - 26,25,00,000
TOTAL - 46,50,00,000 apprx
The business on Friday is most important as this will be the normal level of the film. There will be a drop in business but it all depends how much the fall is and can the film put itself into places to record 20 crore nett plus totals on Saturday and Sunday. This will take the film to a 100 crore nett plus extended weekend which would mean a very good weekend.
----------------------------------
RAEES saw a drop in collections on day three and though the drop is always expected after a big holiday it is more noticeable here with a 50% drop - a 35-40% drop would have been good. Nevertheless its a similar trend to AGNEEPATH released five years back (its coincidence that it was a Hrithik Roshan starrer and now RAEES is clashing with a Hrithik Roshan starrer) which had a similar drop after the same holiday and then picked up again over the weekend. Not only is the trend the same but RAEES is doing its best business in the same markets where AGNEEPATH was best. North India was the lag on AGNEEPATH and its the same story here and for both films Mumbai was and is driving. The first three day business of RAEES is as follows.
Wednesday - 20,25,00,000
Thursday - 26,25,00,000
Friday - 13,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 59,50,00,000 apprx
RAEES won't get 100 crore nett over the weekend due to this drop on day three but it is important that it has solid growth over the next two days which will give it a chance of being a HIT depending on what happens on Monday and thereafter.
