RAEES has almost come to end of its run and has grossed 128.50 crore nett in three weeks. The lifetime business of the film will be 129 crore nett and the distributor share will be around 66 crore. The film has under performed but is the biggest grosser of the year and will probably remain so for some time yet. The business of RAEES till date is as follows.
First Week - 1,10,05,00,000
Second Week - 15,90,00,000
Third Week - 2,60,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,28,55,00,000 appx
KAABIL has remained below the mark from day one though did comfortably beat the numbers of RAEES in the third week. The film stands at 86.50 crore nett after three weeks and will probably finish at 87.50 crore nett. The distributor share of the film will finish at around 42 crore. KRRISH way back in 2006 had managed a share of 40 crore and more than ten years later KAABIL is hardly better.. Below is the business of KAABIL till date
First Week - 65,74,00,000
Second Week - 16,66,00,000
Third Week - 4,10,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 86,50,00,000 apprx

RAEES had a reasonable extended nine day first week of 111.75 crore nett but collections have come down a lot from Monday onwards. The film has not been able to hold after a solid first five days. The film has managed to outpace the competition - KAABIL - easily but the lead was only by around 1 crore nett on Thursday which will mean the collections of both films will be similar in the second week. That is not really a concern as the film is already 45 crore nett ahead and the race is over but for any film dropping weekday collections is a concern as it means the film has not really worked. The drop in screens in second week is more for RAEES than KAABIL with around 30-35% drop for the former and 25% drop for the latter but this is because RAEES is coming off a higher number.
The film has done well in Mumbai with collections of of 35 crore nett in nine days. Actually the clash was all about Mumbai circuit as both films were always likely to be best in Mumbai as RAEES is a Gujarat based film and KAABIL is a crime drama which have a market in Mumbai mainly and the lead is very comfortable for RAEES with 35 crore against the 20 crore of KAABIL over nine days. The other circuits where it fared better were Nizam/Andhra, Mysore, TNK and West Bengal and here Shah Rukh Khan films tend to do better anyway. The film has already nearly beaten the DILWALE number of Mumbai which was 37 crore nett as that film suffered due to the intolerance remarks in Gujarat and a strong BAJIRAO MASTANI in Maharashtra.
The second week is going to be tough for RAEES and its looking at a finish of around 130 crore nett or maybe little higher depending on where the second Friday lands.

RAEES was low on Tuesday with collections around 5.25 crore nett which takes it first week (seven days) total to 103.50 crore nett. The first week total is good at 103.50 crore nett but the problem is it is not sustaining too well. The extended nine day week will be around 112 crore nett but the second week collections will not be good. Its another Shah Rukh Khan film pulling through on star pull with the film itself not being able to hold. DILWALE had a similar fate and although that film could not find appreciation anywhere this has been liked in some Muslim areas but DILWALE had the Christmas period so final business will probably come out to be very similar. The daily first seven day business of RAEES is as follows.
Wednesday - 20,25,00,000
Thursday - 26,25,00,000
Friday - 13,00,00,000
Saturday - 15,50,00,000
Sunday - 17,25,00,000
Monday - 6,00,00,000
Tuesday - 5,25,00,000
TOTAL - 103,50,00,000

RAEES had a drop in collections on Monday as it grossed 6 crore nett to take its total to 98.25 crore nett. The drop is 55% from Friday which is on the higher side and the film really needed to clock up a 7 crore nett plus Monday. It has won the clash with KAABIL as that film is unlikely to reach the five day weekend total of RAEES but that is not really the objective for the film. The fact that the film was best in where Shah Rukh Khan films outperform rather than where mass films do best was a problem over the five days and on Monday the better circuits came down also as these mass types don't sustain there. The reports in the multiplexes especially North were not there and that became clear on Monday as the holds in single screens were much better. The weekend ensures its a safe film but that will be about it. The first six day business of RAEES is as follows.
Wednesday - 20,25,00,000
Thursday - 26,25,00,000
Friday - 13,00,00,000
Saturday - 15,50,00,000
Sunday - 17,25,00,000
Monday - 6,00,00,000
TOTAL - 98,25,00,000
The extended first week of the film is set to be around 112-113 crore nett but the Monday drop makes it tough in the second week even though no major releases. The second week will also be close in terms of the clash with KAABIL but the lead is already too big for that film to making any big inroads into it.

RAEES has had a good extended first weekend with collections of 92.25 crore nett. The film is ahead of KAABIL by a big margin but it is still about the Monday. Though as collections picked up well on Saturday and Sunday after the big drop in Friday, it was not a huge up turn so hard to tell where Monday is going to land up. The film has done well in Mumbai, South and East India while Central markets are pretty good but North is just average. The Monday business should be pretty steady compared to its Friday but what is more important is what level it is at as the Friday of RAEES was its worst day. The first five day business of RAEES is as follows.
Wednesday - 20,25,00,000
Thursday - 26,25,00,000
Friday - 13,00,00,000
Saturday - 15,50,00,000
Sunday - 17,25,00,000
TOTAL - 92,25,00,000

RAEES did very well on its second day as it grossed 26 crore nett plus making it the highest collections ever on Republic Day beating the figures of JAI HO in 2014. More importantly the numbers have come with a clash and it is the highest ever collection that any film has collected on any single day when it has clashed with another major release. The growth from the previous day is 30% which is good as the opening was strong. The two day total for the film is 46.50 crore nett and business is strong all over barring Delhi city and East Punjab. The film is very strong in Mumbai, South and West Bengal. The first two day business of RAEES is as follows.
Wednesday - 20,25,00,000
Thursday - 26,25,00,000
TOTAL - 46,50,00,000 apprx
The business on Friday is most important as this will be the normal level of the film. There will be a drop in business but it all depends how much the fall is and can the film put itself into places to record 20 crore nett plus totals on Saturday and Sunday. This will take the film to a 100 crore nett plus extended weekend which would mean a very good weekend.
----------------------------------
RAEES saw a drop in collections on day three and though the drop is always expected after a big holiday it is more noticeable here with a 50% drop - a 35-40% drop would have been good. Nevertheless its a similar trend to AGNEEPATH released five years back (its coincidence that it was a Hrithik Roshan starrer and now RAEES is clashing with a Hrithik Roshan starrer) which had a similar drop after the same holiday and then picked up again over the weekend. Not only is the trend the same but RAEES is doing its best business in the same markets where AGNEEPATH was best. North India was the lag on AGNEEPATH and its the same story here and for both films Mumbai was and is driving. The first three day business of RAEES is as follows.
Wednesday - 20,25,00,000
Thursday - 26,25,00,000
Friday - 13,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 59,50,00,000 apprx
RAEES won't get 100 crore nett over the weekend due to this drop on day three but it is important that it has solid growth over the next two days which will give it a chance of being a HIT depending on what happens on Monday and thereafter.

RAEES did very well on day one as it grossed 20.25-20.50 crore nett on day one. The film easily beat the competition of KAABIL as it put up far higher numbers. The business of the film is similar to DILWALE released in 2015 but on the face of it that was a bigger film for an initial although eventually the content was not accepted in India. The film scored very strongly in Mumbai, South and West Bengal while CP Berar was also strong. The other markets were decent to good with the under performance coming in East Punjab. Delhi city was also lower but the whole Delhi-UP circuit recovered somewhat with the business of UP. The film having a Gujarat base and flavor probably affected the collections up North. South India should also not being these numbers for a mass film like this but the Shah Rukh Khan factor worked there big time.
Despite a big first day the film and KAABIL not being much of a factor on day one it would still probably have done 4-5 crore nett more if it was a solo release. It managed to get 3400 screens which is good for a clash but the fact is you get less of those peak time screenings with a clash and even if the other film is not really collecting you can't afford to have less peak time shows as that is when collections are best.
There is a big national holiday and collections will jump in most places though places which are strong like South and West Bengal may not show huge growth as they are already high. North India will show good growth but the Friday business in north is more crucial as if the film sustains there then it will definitely emerge a winner. The opening day number is the fourth highest ever for a Shah Rukh Khan starrer after HAPPY NEW YEAR, CHENNAI EXPRESS and DILWALE.
