After recreating “Samjhawan“
from Pankaj Batra's Punjabi film, Virsa, for Shashank Khaitan's
directorial debut, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Varun Dhawan and Alia
Bhatt are all set to shake a leg on a new version of Bappi Lahiri's
“Tamma Tamma“ for the next film in the franchise, Badrinath Ki Dulhania.
The original track was picturised on Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt in
Raj N Sippy's 1990 action drama Thanedaar. “We have retained the
original voices of Bappi Lahiri and Anuradha Paudwal but also added
Badshah and a bit of rap. It's a peppy dance track with the music
slightly altered to suit current trends,“ informs Tanishk Baagchi
who has composed the new song.
Varun and Alia kicked off the film in Mumbai in May before moving to Jhansi, Kota and Singapore. “This story begins with certain hardships the couple face before their love blossoms in Singapore,“ the 29-year-old actor had earlier revealed to Mirror (Nov 10). Alia and he will be shooting for the song this week with choreographer Bosco Martis in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, another recreated version of “Tamma Tamma“ has already been filmed on Vidyut Jammwal, Freddy Daruwala, Esha Gupta and Adah Sharma for Commando 2. Mirror (November 18) had reported that director Deven Bhojani and producer Vipul Shah had wanted to recreate AR Rahman's “Hamma Hamma“ from Mani Ratnam's 1995 film Bombay as a promotional song for their film. When they couldn't get the rights to this song, they zeroed in on “Tamma Tamma Loge“ with the actors wearing the same costumes seen in the original and grooving against a disco-light setting. They even did Sanjay's famous pelvic thrust and headbanging.
