DANGAL (Hindi) grossed a huge 18 crore apprx on day eight smashing all records for day eight by a distance. The business in North India has gone to another level on day eight with collections in Delhi /UP being better than Thursday at 4 crore nett while East Punjab was similar to Thursday with 2.40 crore nett. Other areas saw drops in the 10-15% region which is still excellent. The film is tax free in UP and Haryana which is helping the Nett collections in both these states. Saturday is New Year's Eve and the growth can be huge but on the other hand the film is already at a very high level which could curtail growth. If the 30% plus growth comes then the film will be on course for a historic 100 crore nett second week which has never happened before. DANGAL has crossed the 210 crore nett mark in eight days. The film has sustained well in Tamil and will do a decent number in that language but Telugu is poor. Due to good holds in Tamil the dubbed language business could do 10 crore nett plus and only DHOOM 3 has done this much before.

DANGAL created an All Time Record with the highest second Friday collections of all time. This follows the highest single day of all time on Sunday as it crossed 40 crore nett and the highest weekday business ever with 88 crore nett. This record looks much stronger as it has beaten by a distance as the previous record was 14.50 crore nett. It is the first film to cross 15 crore nett at the start of the second week and also makes it five films going over 10 crore nett till date. Last year BAJIRAO MASTANI had grossed 12 crore nett on its second Friday but it was a holiday for Christmas. It also must be noted that Christmas releases dominate the second Friday numbers with 5 out of the top six being Christmas releases and BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN the only non Christmas release among the top six.
