Now, a source close to the film has revealed to Mirror that the makers are determined to not do anything that would antagonise Gawli's family and followers, especially since the film, along with elaborate action sequences that they have already shot, also focuses on the lesser known love story of Arun and Asha Gawli, who changed her name from Zubeida Mujawar after they got married. “The team recently shot an intimate sequence at Mumbai's Edward theatre with Arjun and Aishwarya but it has now been restricted to just a few seconds as director Ashim Ahluwalia doesn't want to invite trouble. Besides their courtship, the film also chronicles the opposition Gawli faced from his family when he decided to marry a woman from another religion,“ the source said.
The Daddy makers have been keeping Gawli's daughters, Yogita, Geeta and Asmita in the loop about the film's progress. “The family have also insisted that Gawli get to see the film when he's out on parole before it hits theatres. The team is being extra cautious about how his story is presented,“ the source added. While major portions of the film have been shot in Andheri's Versova village, where Gawli's residence and stronghold, Dagdi chawl, was re-created, some portions were shot in South Mumbai.
The film's spokesperson remained unavailable for comment.
