After “Laal Ishq” from Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram Leela, and “Aayat” from Bajirao Mastani, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has roped in Arijit Singh for a special song in his next, Padmavati.
“Arijit recently recorded a composition which will be one of the highlights of the film. The singer was in Kolkata to celebrate Durga Puja when the filmmaker, who shares a warm equation with him, discussed the track with him. Bhansali was so keen on having the playback singer on-board that he waited for him to return from Kolkata to record the soulful track,” reveals a source close to the development.
In Padmavati, Ranveer Singh steps into the shoes of the anti-hero — the sharp and ambitious Turk, Alauddin Khilji — while Deepika Padukone will play the queen of Mewar, Padmavati, known for her beauty, intellect and the courage with which she fought her nemesis, the undefeated Alauddin. The film also features Shahid Kapoor as Raja Ratan Singh, Padmavati’s husband and King of Mewar.
