Salim Khan turned 81 on Thursday and the Khandaan scripted a memorable birthday for him. The celebrations begun with a private screening of the 1975 release Sholay at a suburban theatre. Salim and his erstwhile partner Javed Akhtar had penned the curry Western. Only the veteran’s close friends were invited. Later in the day, the family turned up in full force.

Besides his three sons—Salman, Arbaaz and Sohail—and two daughters, Alvira (who came with husband Atul Agnihotri) and Arpita (who was accompanied by husband Aayush and son Ahil), there was Sangeeta Bijlani, Sajid Nadiadwala and Salman’s rumoured ladylove Iulia.

After the party, Salman left for Lonavala to shoot an episode of his reality show, Bigg Boss, with Vidya Balan.

Salim when contacted said, “I wanted to spend the day with family and friends with whom I go for walks at night.”
