National Award-winning filmmaker Mani Ratnam will soon take off to Europe for the fourth schedule of his upcoming Tamil romantic-drama, Kaatru Veliyidai, which brings together Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari and Tamil superstar Karthi Sivakumar. He will film a song with them against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains and frozen lakes. But of course, the track is composed by Ratnam’s favourite protégé A R Rahman.
Earlier this year, the duo shot in Ooty and Hyderabad, followed by a 15-day schedule in Leh Ladakh in October. “They were to shoot in Kashmir but following the ongoing unrest the location was shifted to Himachal Pradesh before the filmmaker decided to shift base to Europe. The film wraps up in December with one last schedule,” informs a source close to the development.
Set for a 2017 summer release, it also features RJ Balaji, Shraddha Srinath and Delhi Ganesh and follows Karthi, a pilot, who falls in love with Aditi, a doctor, while on a trip to India.
“Aditi had to take extensive Tamil lessons before she started filming and has continued with her classes,” adds the source.
