On Sunday afternoon, singer-composer Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma, of the Laxmikant-Pyarelal duo, was spotted exiting a Bandra clinic with wife Sunila and his parrot Mithoo. The pet and Sunila were colour co-ordinated, radiant in bright green, while the 76-year-old musician holding his wife's hand tightly as she clutched the parrot's cage, was in his usual spotless white kurta-pyjama.

When Mirror contacted the Pyarelals', Sunila couldn't stop laughing over the phone as she described Pyare's love for the bird. “He takes Mithoo along whenever he goes and he feeds and cleans him too. Pyare has been unwell but refused to go to the doctor without his pet. Mithoo also has his own vet in Kalina,“ she informs. The parrot has been with the couple for the last 13 years and was seven years old when they adopted him back in 2003. “Mithoo is old now but he's still our child. He can sing three different tunes and his favourite song is Mukesh-Lata's evergreen 'Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai' from Shor which he croons perfectly. Pyare and Mithoo shoot videos of themselves singing together too,“ she reveals, as one hears her husband laughing loudly in the background, exulting, “Ab toh mera Mithoo hero ban gaya!“
