Patralekhaa is currently in
Goa for a month-long schedule of Cheers, touted as India's first virtual
reality web series which follows four best friends who meet in Goa five
years after passing out of college. The reunion is marked with trips
down memory lane over beer and discussion of future plans. “The
makers specialise in virtual reality content and when I
saw what the show would look like, I was amazed and I just had to be
part of this one,“
Patralekhaa informs, adding that her character makes a
transition from the tumultuous teenage years to adulthood. “The
show documents all the changes I go through and will have me sporting
two dramatically different looks - the first is slightly rebellious and
wild, the other glamorous.“
Reminiscing about her own teen years, the 26-year-old actress says she didn't enjoy it as much as she would have liked to since she was in a boarding school in a small town in Assam. “Unlike my free-spirited character in the series, I was never the cool girl in class. I'd sit in a corner and just study. I felt quite out of place.“
She goes on to add that though she is waif-thin now with a willowy grace, she was an overweight kid. It made her awkward and full of self doubt. She is glad she transformed into a self-assured adult once she moved to Mumbai. “Once I knew what I really wanted from life things took a paradigm shift,“ says Patralekhaa who made her debut with Hansal Mehta's Citylightts.
Virtual reality is computer-generated simulation of a three-dimensional image or environment that can be interacted with in a seemingly real or physical way by using special electronic equipment.
Next up, Patralekhaa begins work on a new film which goes on the floors in January. The actress however insists it's too early to divulge any details.
