When we meet the girl gang
of Pink - Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang - they are a far
cry from what we have seen of them in the trailer. The chirpy trio gets
along like a house on fire and is sporting while posing for the camera.
But the time they spent on the set was quite different. “Frankly,
there are no fun moments in the movie. But we're having our share during
promotions,“ begins Taapsee. Kirti adds, “The energy on the set was
such that everyone gave their 100 per cent.“ For Andrea, who was facing
the camera for the first time in the thriller, which is presented by
Shoojit Sircar and also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Angad Bedi, every day
was a new day. “My first scene was with Mr Bachchan and I was shaking
with nervousness. To top it, as I hail from Shillong, I had a tough time
delivering dialogues in Hindi,“ she says.
Considering the title of the Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury directorial is synonymous with the fairer sex, what does it mean to them? While Andrea succinctly puts it as femininity, Kirti says, “The word emanates tenderness, courage and female energy.“ Taapsee, on the other hand, has a contrasting perspective. She elaborates, “Somewhere, we associate the colour with softness and frailty. Also, the society looks at women in a certain way. Through this film, we are trying to break that conditioning and asking the audience to not conceive women and the colour in that manner.“
Pink, produced by Rashmi Sharma Films and Rising Sun Films, releases on September 16.
