Veere Di Wedding makers pick two Mumbai-based netizens to assist in costume dept

With style mavens Sonam Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan toplining the star cast of Veere Di Wedding, sartorial magic is bound to unfold on screen. While the makers are collaborating with high-end brands and ace designers to source trendy accessories and outfits, they are also in talks with two city-based fashion bloggers to style the actresses.

Says an insider, “The production team is planning to rope in Shereen Sikka and Kayaan Contractor, who founded popular fashion blog, Love And Other Bugs, in 2013. The two girls are quite experimental, have distinct tastes and on the ball with season trends.” Apart from Sonam and Kareena, Veere Di Wedding, which is a story of four girl friends, also stars Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania. The film will be helmed by Shashanka Ghosh, and is scheduled to go on floors in October.

“Major high street fashion brands and a few luxury players have shown interest in associating with the film. But, it is the fashion bloggers who can lend a typical Mumbaiya vibe to the actors’ wardrobe,” says the insider, adding that there have also been several in- film branding discussions between the makers and the brands.

The film’s producer and Sonam’s sister, Rhea Kapoor says, “We are excited to bring together two worlds we love the most — films and fashion — particularly with this cast. We hope to create a moment or two to remember. At this point, we are planning to rope in a couple of fashion bloggers, who can bring in their vision to make Veere Di Wedding a style fest in the truest sense.”
