When a film flops, it’s the lead actors, especially
the hero, who gets the flak for choosing a bad movie. Just see what’s
happening with Hrithik Roshan and Mohenjo Daro. However, Ajay Devgn
seems to be an exception. When he did Himmatwala, which was a disaster,
it was director Sajid Khan, who was blamed for the bad remake of the
’80s film. Again, when Action Jackson flopped badly, the film and its
director Prabhu Dheva got panned for the lack of plot among other
things. In both cases, Ajay was left relatively unscathed. A director,
who has worked with him, observes, “It’s puzzling how Ajay never gets
the blame when his film fails. Woh sumdi mein nikal jaata hai, while the
director ends up with all the brickbats.”
