After months of speculation, the baton has been passed on to Tiger Shroff to take the Student of the Year franchise forward. Karan Johar on Monday confirmed that he will be top-lining the cast of Part 2. While KJo had directed the earlier film, Punit Malhotra, who has directed the Imran Khan-Sonam Kapoor starrer, I Hate Luv Storys, and Imran and Kareena Kapoor's Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, will be taking charge of the sequel. Buzz is, this one will have two leading ladies who are yet to be finalised. The names of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's daughter Sara, as well as Boney and Sridevi Kapoor's daughter Jahnvi have been making the rounds. The film is expected to go on floors in January 2017.

The leading trio from the original, Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan took to the social media to congratulate Tiger for bagging the sequel. Varun asserted, “I'm sure you will graduate with flying colours.“
