When Salman Khan entered the
Rangasharda Auditorium around 4pm on Sunday for a prayer meet for
Rajjat Barjatya, who passed away on Friday, July 29, a bhajan was being
sung. The 50-year-old-actor stood patiently in a corner, with sister
Alvira, for 20 minutes until the song ended, even though filmmaker
Subhash Ghai nudged him to take a seat. When the bhajan was over, he
walked towards the Barjatyas to pay his condolences. He shook hands with
every member of the family. Last in the queue was Rajjat's cousin and
one of Sallu's favourite directors, Sooraj Barjatya. Unable to control
his emotions, Salman began to sob hugging his director-friend. Minutes
later, the red-eyed actor got into his car and sped home.

MID-DAY (August 1, 2016)
Salman Khan broke down at the condolence meet for Rajjat Barjatya held at an auditorium in Bandra yesterday. Rajjat, cousin of filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya, passed away on July 29 following a battle against cancer. The star’s affiliation to the Barjatya clan is unshakeable, and he has even gone on record to say he will never refuse a film from the Rajshri stable. The star’s association with the Barjatyas dates back to 1989 when Sooraj gave him his first hit, Maine Pyar Kiya. Salman tweeted a picture of Rajjat saying: “Rest in peace my brother Rajjat Barjatya”. He was seen wiping tears in his car while heading back home. Sonam Kapoor, Raveena Tandon and a few other B-Town celebs also attended the prayer meet.
