Simi Garewal briefly revived her eponymous 1990s show, Rendezvous, at an event in Melbourne recently with her Karz co-star, Rishi Kapoor, and his wife, Neetu, as her guests. Speaking to Mirror from Singapore, the veteran actress-talk show host said, “This was the first time that I had a live Rendezvous. It was a full house and a different experience because we had over 300 people in the audience; usually, my Rendezvous are very intimate. Rishi and Neetu were candid about everything, right from their love story to the turbulence their marriage went through.“

But the conversation truly took a refreshing turn when the veteran couple threw light on their relationship with their actor-son, Ranbir. While the Tamasha actor is close to his mother, he barely communicates with his father. This left the audience as well as host Simi surprised. “Rishi confided that he shares a very different relationship with his son. Neetu revealed that once when she was out of town and Rishi and Ranbir were home, she called to find out how their day went. Her husband told her that they had dinner together but had barely spoken to each other. There is no hypocrisy when it comes to Neetu and Rishi, they say it like it is,“ Simi asserts.

She is pleased that it wasn't a ticketed event. “I'm glad because we didn't want to commercialise it. It had limited seating. When I was asked to interview Rishi and Neetu, it was an immediate 'yes' because I've known them for years,“ she says.

And does she plan to bring her iconic talk show back on the small screen anytime soon? “I would love that. I get hundreds of requests on my website every day so hopefully it should happen soon,“ she signs off.
