Amaal Mallik and Armaan Malik speak to Follo.in about their singles and things close to their hearts
Ritambhara Dixit (BOMBAY TIMES; August 5, 2016)

Apart from Bollywood, what are the singles you guys are working on?
Amaal: I am working on a project, which I'm both composing and singing. Hopefully, it will be out soon.
Armaan: We just recreated one of Kishore Kumar's classic numbers. It's recreated by Abhijit Vaghani and I've sung it with Neeti Mohan. We both worked earlier on Tumhe Apna Banane Ka and we also have a duet in Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif's next film, Baar Baar Dekho. I am really excited about our combination. Another single will come out sometime towards the end of the year, and I will be featuring in the video as well.
Amaal: Armaan and I have so many songs together that people feel he sings only for me. I use his voice because it is wonderful. But I work with the likes of KK, Arijit Singh, Shaan and Vishal Dadlani, too.Of course, Armaan has a great fan following, which makes him one of the most suited formula singers today.

Have there been any instances when you've heard each other's work and thought 'I should have done that with him'?
Armaan: No, never. We both are individual identities and yet, whenever we come together, we become one entity. It is not like we are competing with each other or with someone else. The best part is that I get to sing for other composers and Amaal gets to work with other singers, and when we come back together, we create magic.
Amaal: Right from the start, we had decided that we will never make a duo, like Vishal-Shekhar or Salim-Sulaiman. It was something that I personally did not want to do because I know how talented Armaan is. He has carved his own space; he has worked with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, and Amit Trivedi. That range as a singer gets curbed when you become a part of the duo. Look how long it has taken Vishal to break away and make his own identity as a singer.
