The trailer of Akshay
Kumar's Rustom, also starring Ileana D'Cruz, Esha Gupta and Arjan Bajwa
that was launched yesterday, has gone viral. And understandably so. The
film is inspired by a true incident in the life of a patriotic Indian
navy officer of the 60s, who was tried for murdering his wife's lover in
the heat of the moment. And it had captured the imagination of the
nation back then.
Was the officer Rustom Pavri condemned for his crime of passion? Well, that is the suspense here. The image of the man, who was primarily a patriot, was tainted when the murder made headlines. However, for many Indians, he continued to remain a hero. “If you must know how this happened, you have to see Rustom,“ says Akshay.
Another talking point of the trailer is the way the makers have captured London and Mumbai of the 60s. Be it Akshay's hair style and clothes or Ileana's fashion and hairdos, everything is retro. The film has captured Mumbai's skyline and embellished it with scenes of London back in the day.
Akshay, who is currently holidaying in the US, is pleasantly surprised with the reactions that he has been getting online and through text messages. The Bollywood superstar says, “Honestly, I'm overwhelmed. I knew we were doing something right and special when we were shooting Rustom, but ultimately it is the reaction of the trade and the public which matters the most. I'm happy that people have loved the trailer.“
