According to industry sources, Kiran Rao has started shooting her next without any announcement or fanfare, five years after her directorial debut with Dhobi Ghat (2011). Says a source, “Kiran has been shooting quietly for a film called Begum Aapa at Filmalaya Studios in Andheri for the last month-and-a-half. It’s being produced by husband Aamir Khan’s production company.”

The plot is said to be revolving around an elderly lady and her relationship with a bunch of children. Says an insider, “It’s an interesting and unique story which is why probably Kiran wants to keep it under wraps for the moment till she completes shooting for the film. It’s a start-to-finish schedule.”

Like Dhobi Ghat, Aamir Khan will feature in this film of Kiran too. He will be seen in a special cameo. The makers don’t want to disclose any details about the film till it is complete, so it’s all very secretive and everyone connected to the film has signed a non-disclosure agreement.
