Apart from co-starring with the Khan trio, Anushka Sharma, who already had one film in the all-time top grossers, now has two films on that enviable list with Sultan. PK, in which she was paired with Aamir Khan, made over Rs 600 crore worldwide, while her recently released Sultan, co-starring Salman Khan, has garnered Rs 300 crores in just two weeks (and still counting).

What sets Anushka apart, is that even in movies starring the Khan trio, she had crucial roles and is not just their beautiful romantic interest. For instance, in PK, she featured as the feisty Jagat Janani, a strong, independent girl.

Similarly, in Sultan, as Aarfa, she makes empowered choices and lives life on her own terms, despite hailing from a rural background.

Personally, too, Anushka never shies away from speaking her mind whether it’s on gender equality, sexism in Bollywood or cruelty against animals and her roles, more often than not, reflect her attitude.
