Plays a prisoner in Nikkhil Advani's next production, the directorial debut of his assistant Ranjit Tiwari

Nikkhil Advani has found his lead actor for his next production, Lucknow Central, in Farhan Akhtar. The film is set in a jail with music at its core, will be directed by Advani's assistant Ranjit Tiwari.

"It is expected to go on the floors by October-end and has Farhan in the role of a prisoner. Most of it will be shot in Mumbai on a huge set in a studio," a source close to the development informed Mirror, adding that Farhan will be seen in a completely different avatar and AR Rahman will compose the music.

In an earlier interview to Mirror (Nov 28), Nikkhil had revealed his plans to launch two of his assistants, Gaurav Chawla who is directing a slice-of-life film about two friends, and Ranjit whose film is inspired by a true story of convicts sentenced to life imprisonment in the Lucknow Central Jail. "They start a band and discover pride, self confidence, a reason to wake up every morning," he had said.

Buzz is, Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani will co-produce the film. Meanwhile, the actor is currently working on Shujaat Saudagar's Rock On 2 which also features Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli, Prachi Desai and Shashank Arora in pivotal roles.
