Sanjay Leela Bhansali is on a hattrick with his next, Padmavati, also a period film after Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani. The film, by all indications, is a woman-centric one. This is great news for any and all names of actresses in the fray. We asked our readers to pick from four actresses, all currently at the top of their game and three with experience in the genre.

The vote was cleanly divided between the experienced names, with Kareena Kapoor Khan (at 34%) barely edging out Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (32%) and Deepika Padukone (31%). Sonam Kapoor, the only actress to have not done a film in this genre garnered only 3% of the vote.

All the actresses have played royalty on screen. Kareena was Kaurwaki, princess of Kalinga in Asoka. Deepika played warrior princess Mastani, the daughter of Raja Chattarsal in Bajirao Mastani. Aishwarya played Jodhaa, the princess of Amer and later, the consort of Emperor Akbar in Jodhaa Akbar. Sonam was Princess Maithili in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
