"A sweet celebration is in
store; our lil' Candyman Viaan Raj is turning four! Join us in
Candyland,“ read Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra's party invite for their
son's birthday bash at their sprawling Juhu bungalow. The invite, along
with a Popsicle, was sent to every B-town celebrity and socialite with a
tot at home.
On May 21, at 5 pm, R Madhavan and Sarita's son, Vedant walked into a castle of candies and toffees, which had come up overnight in the sea-facing garden. There was a clown and a live Mickey Mouse too. A two-tier butterscotch and hazelnut cake with candy and gems on it was cut, after which the guests were invited into the Candy house, a king-size playhouse made of the birthday boy's favourite candies some of which Shilpa picked up from her recent Dubai trip. There was also a painting counter and a dart house. “There was a no-sugar buffet, cocktails for and chaat, pasta counters for the parents,“ informs a guest. “There were 40 children. They were on a sugar high by 8 pm.“
Among the guests were aunt Shamita, grandparents Surendra and Sunanda Shetty, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan with daughter Aaradhya, Sanjay Dutt and Manyata's twins, Shahraan and Iqra, Ayushmann Khurrana and Tahira Kashyap's duo, Virajveer and Varushka, Bhushan and Divya Khosla Kumar's son Ruhaan and Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza's son Riaan.
Viaan spent Sunday unwrapping his gifts, among which were a brown toy horse, unicorns and ponies and the latest play station. He also got battery-operated toy cars in all sizes, a badminton, cricket and mini-golf set. “No more gifts for three years, this playroom resembles a toy store,“ pointed out mamma Shilpa, while daddy Raj confided that Viaan was the best gift his wife had ever given him.
When Bipasha Basu, glowing from her Maldives honeymoon with hubby Karan Singh Grover, wished Viaan via Twitter, Raj teased, “Thanks so much! Viaan wants to know when you guys are giving him a friend?“
