Following the Supreme
Court's call to expedite the decision on Jiah Khan's suicide case, the
Bombay High Court is set to hear the matter and possibly take a decision
on June 7 on the case between Rabiya Khan (Jiah's mother) and CBI
(Central Bureau of Investigation). The actress committed suicide on June
3, 2013 in her Juhu apartment, following which her boyfriend and actor
Sooraj Pancholi was arrested for abetment of suicide.
Rabiya told the apex court in her plea that the trial court was hearing the matter in an improper manner. She also demanded SIT (Special Investigation Team) to intervene, as she was not happy with the CBI's findings. The new development has come as a ray of hope for Rabiya. She said, “I am glad that there will be a proper hearing now. The SC has understood the gravity of the matter and therefore, has directed the HC to fast track the process.“
Special Public Prosecutor Dinesh Tiwari added, “The SC has ordered HC to dispose of the case on June 7 itself. This means that there will be a possibility of a closure on the case.“ When we reached out to Sooraj's counsel Prashant Patil, he said, “This order won't affect my client as this case is between Rabiya Khan and the CBI.“
