Last year, music baron Bhushan Kumar got composer Jeet Gannguli to create a special song, Mere Papa, for his father, the late Gulshan Kumar. Recently, when vocalist Tulsi Kumar sung it at an event, the crowd was moved to tears due to her heartfelt rendition and the emotional lyrics penned by Manoj Muntashir. That was the cue for the siblings to make a music video along with their sister Khushali to pay an ode to their father.

The video will be launched by Anil Kapoor and his actress daughter Sonam at an event in Mumbai today. The Kapoors and Kumars share a special bond. While Anil knew Gulshan since many years, Tulsi, Khushali and Sonam went to the same school together. Tulsi says, “I was my Papa's favourite. When I went to the studio to record the track, I got extremely emotional. But I guess it was my father's blessings that gave me the strength to go ahead. The biggest compliment came from Sonu Nigam who thought it was my best song. My father wanted to see me become a singer and today whatever I am is because of him. Mere papa is my tribute to him.'' Khushali adds, “When I heard Tulsi rehearsing the song before her performance, I couldn't control my emotions. I am sure every child and father will relate to this track. Our father dedicated his life to music. He would always say that music is a strong medium to express your feelings.“
