Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif-starrer Jagga Jasoos is
heading towards completion. The film has almost a month of shoot left
before it wraps. The film has been surrounded with controversies from
the day it was announced. And now we hear that Jagga Jasoos isn’t an
original idea.
The film, which is about a young detective (Ranbir) on a relentless search for his father seemed like another filmy idea but the novelty factor was added when we heard that it’s a musical where the characters too speak to each other in the form of songs. Ranbir had told us there are almost 15 songs in the film and he also added, “Many dialogues, too, are in the form of songs.” Katrina too had admitted that in the film, Ranbir and her characters communicate through songs.
Does this sound similar? An industry source tells us, “Jagga’s plot might be the different but the entire novel concept of having the characters talk through songs is copied from The Singing Detective.”
For those who don’t know, The Singing Detective is an old TV series which also was converted to a film of the same name in 2003 starring Robert Downey Jr. It’s about a writer suffering from a skin disease who falls into a fantasy world and hallucinates solving a mystery through musical numbers and paranoid plots. Coincidence much?
