The Jungle Book is a visual spectacle but has its heart at the right place. It is a complete family entertainer and viewers of all ages are bound to enjoy this great piece of cinema. The initial portions aren’t that great however and it’s only after 10-15 minutes that the interest properly kicks in. But once that happens, there’s no looking back! The technology used is top-class and it is a treat to see animals that look so real and who can speak. It’s surreal and a joyful experience! I am not in favour of dubbed versions of Hollywood films but for The Jungle Book, I’ll strongly recommend that viewers see the Hindi version. The character of Baloo is taken to another level altogether by Irrfan Khan. His voice has that laidback-ness that goes beautifully with Baloo’s personality. Kudos to the writers as well for writing some witty and funny lines! Other actors like Priyanka Chopra, Nana Patekar, Om Puri, Shefali Shah and others have done their best too. Neel Sethi is a talent to watch out for…simply outstanding! All in all, a film you should not miss. And again, not much of a 3D fan but do watch it in 3D and even better, in IMAX!
My rating - **** out of 5!
