A lot has been written about Anurag Kashyap's equation with Ram Gopal Varma, his mentor with whom he has collaborated in the past. But it seems now, things are different. Anurag's next, Raman Raghav 2.0, which was reportedly slated to release on May 27, has been pushed. Apparently, the decision was taken so that his film doesn't clash with RGV's Veerappan, which releases on the same day. We contacted the director but he didn't reply to our message till the time of going to press.

When RGV was asked about the turbulent relation he shared with his protégé at his film's trailer launch, he replied, “I never had a cold war, it was always a hot war. We share a bond - I love him and he hates me. Both the films are biopics of a killer; so may the best killer win.“

Recently we had reported that Anurag Kashyap’s Raman Raghav 2.0, Pooja Bhatt’s Cabaret and Ram Gopal Varma’s Veerappan will release on the same date — May 27. However, Kashyap seems to be in no mood to take risks with a project that has a lot riding on it and has apparently shifted its release date.

Says a source, “Anurag thought about the situation and decided to shift his film. He doesn’t want the business of the film to be hampered. Also, he obviously is keen that his film gets a solo release and is looking for a more suitable slot.”

A source close to the director confirms the story and says, “Raman Raghav 2.0 will most probably release in the last week of June now. It was a conscious decision as all films are more or less of the same genre and Anurag didn’t want comparisons.”

When contacted Anurag Kashyap remained unavailable for comment, but tweeted saying: “BoxOffice is going to get very incestuous on May 27th. It’s like a Civil War of Andheri - Versova -  AramNagar on box office .. Bhaago (sic).”
