Action star Jackie Chan is
having a tough time shooting for his multilingual Indo-Chinese film Kung
Fu Yoga, directed by Stanley Tong in Jaipur. No, he is not being mobbed
by his fans, neither are they gate-crashing the shooting site. Instead,
it's the heat that's bothering the 61-year-old actor. Seeking refuge
from the heat, beneath an umbrella at the Amber Fort in Jaipur, Chan,
whose previous India visits clearly did not prepare him for the climate,
spoke exclusively to us and said, “It is my first time in Jaipur and oh
my God, it's so hot here. I came directly from Iceland to Jaipur! The
weather here is totally different.“
When we asked him about the city, he replied, “Ever since I have come here, I am either shooting or resting in the hotel room. So I haven't had any time to explore the city . This happens with me all the time. Whenever I am shooting abroad, I don't get time to roam around and see the place. You will find me only at two locations - the hotel and the shooting site.“
The actor seemed elated, however, to be in India for the fourth time. “I find Indian people very sweet. I have been to New Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai earlier for film festivals and to shoot The Myth. And it's always nice to be in this country. I have both friends and fans in India,“ he said with his characteristic big smile, before resuming shooting for the film.
Krishna Tiwari, the location manager says Chan is fond of masala tea. He says, “Every morning, when he comes on the set, he asks for masala tea, the sort that we all drink. He is not throwing any starry tantrums. In fact, he is eating the same food that all the other cast and crew members are eating at the shooting site.“
Adds a member of the production department, “From Jaipur, we will fly down to Jodhpur on March 29 and start shooting at Mehrangarh Fort for a Bollywood-style dance number. Sonu Sood will join the cast in Jodhpur and start shooting from April 1 onwards. Farah Khan will come to Jodhpur later for choreography on April 3 and 4, which is also the last day of the shooting in Rajasthan.“
