WILL KAPOOR & SONS BRING CHEER IN ‘DRY’ MARCH?

Dharma Productions has had a rough patch with 3 of their consecutive films – Ungli, Brothers and Shaandaar – not working at the box office. However, their time is going to change it seems with Kapoor & Sons that hits the screens tomorrow. The excitement is there, though not on a huge scale, but the conditions are such that it can thrive well at the box office.

Kapoor & Sons stars Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Fawad Khan in leading roles. Rishi Kapoor, in a supporting role, plays a 90-year-old person and his makeover in the film is seen to be believed. Besides, there’s also Rajat Kapoor and Ratna Pathak Shah who play Sidharth and Fawad’s parents. Songs haven’t made a huge mark but Ladki Kar Gayi Chull has become very huge. The film looks fresh and youthful and also a family entertainer, the latter being a very significant reason why it can work. Also, there has been no exciting film that has released since Neerja, that came out almost 30 days back. Hence, viewers are pining to see a good mainstream film and Kapoor & Sons can be the ideal fare.

Moreover, as discussed last week, the business has gone down in the past few weeks. There’s a drought at the box office and Kapoor & Sons can prove to be a saviour to a great extent. Moreover, it has the advantage of a Holiday next Thursday (Holi) during which the collections can rise. However, the film has to be really good to have good growth over the weekend and then sustain in the weekdays.

Here’s hoping Kapoor & Sons turns out to be a fun-filled family entertainer that brings cheers and smiles for everyone!
