Airlift actress Nimrat Kaur may have been part of some interesting love stories on screen, but her sister Rubina, who got married on Wednesday in Delhi has an equally interesting one. The happy sister tells us, "It was a day I had been waiting for since long. The wedding was held at the Army mess. My brother-in-law is Indian but lives in Sweden, they met online and fell in love on their first date over coffee, which was just six months ago. She is my baby sister and I told her if she plans to escape right before the wedding I'm there for her," says the celeb bridesmaid with a laugh.

Elaborating about the celebrations she says, "The best part about the wedding was the army band, a special privilege we have coming from an army background. I wore a Punjabi sharara by Rimple and Harpreet Narula, a custom made outfit with a maang teeka that is heirloom."

After completing her last film and its promotions, Nimrat Kaur had another task at hand - to look into the arrangements of her younger sister Rubina's wedding. The ceremony was held on Wednesday in Delhi, and being the doting elder sister, Nimrat was there before the ceremonies began. She said that her sister had decided her wedding date as per Nimrat's schedule. “She insisted that I should be present throughout, so these dates were decided keeping my schedule in mind. Rubina is my baby sister and I'm so excited about her wedding! She is a psychologist and she found love online. Vinit is a digital marketing professional. He was born in India and raised in Sweden, so most of the baraatis were from Sweden. We had aggressive negotiations with them over the ritual where the bride's sisters and friends hide the groom's shoes. It was a lot of fun - the celebrations started with a cocktail party, then sangeet and mehendi the next day followed by the wedding on Wednesday,“ said Nimrat.

IT WAS A PRIVILEGE TO HOST THE WEDDING AT THE AIR FORCE AUDITORIUM
It was an afternoon wedding as per Sikh rituals at the Air Force Auditorium Lawn in Subroto Park. “It's the best time to have an open air, day wedding in Delhi. The weather is so pleasant here. Since I am from the Army background, we had the privilege of hosting the wedding at the Air Force Auditorium and an Army band played music at the wedding. They played bagpipers and the music was so different. One doesn't get to see them perform very often and we were lucky to have them perform at the wedding,“ said the actress.
