AIRLIFT VS KYAA KOOL HAIN HUM 3

The first major clash of 2016 is all set to happen tomorrow. My analysis:

AIRLIFT: It stars Akshay Kumar and in the leading role and is based on the world's biggest civil evacuation - evacuation of Indians based in Kuwait during the Iraq-Kuwait war. The incident has a mention in the Guinness World Records and if made well, it can turn out to be a great engaging film. Also, for the viewers, it can be a nice experience since not much is known about the incident. It has the advantage of a holiday on Tuesday (Republic Day) which goes well with the patriotic mood of the movie. However, it’s not a massy film and that can affect the film’s collections despite the great word of mouth. Last year, Akshay Kumar’s Baby released at the same time and despite the excellent word mouth, it failed to even cross the Rs 100 crore mark. Airlift might follow suit. There are talks that the movie can get tax free status which will be very beneficial. But Baby was a solo release while Airlift faces competition from Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3. Hence Airlift might have a tough time.

KYAA KOOL HAIN HUM 3: This is the 3rd part of a popular sex comedy series. The first 2 parts were commercial successes and hence, the 3rd part too can strike gold. Instead of Riteish Deshmukh, there’s Aftab Shivdasani in the film. Tusshar Kapoor remains while Mandana Karimi is the lead actress. Her hot, bikini clad avatar is the talk of the town and instantly grabbed eyeballs. The film’s trailer is hilarious and has worked with the target audience. The grand success of Grand Masti has made everyone realize how much an adult comedy can excel. Hence, Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 can make a mark at the box office and give stiff competition to Airlift. If however the response to the film is bad, it is sure to fall down after initial euphoria.
