When contacted, Sooraj's father Aditya Pancholi said, “We will sit with our lawyers and take all the necessary legal action. My son has gone through a lot of trauma and we will surely fight this out and come out stronger.“

Aditya was sure that the CBI would drop the murder charges against his son, which they reportedly did. He added, “One positive thing is that there is no murder angle which Jiah's mother Rabiya was trying to prove. Sooraj is now booked only under section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC and the CBI has not questioned him for the same. We are going to challenge this development.“
