Pan Nalin’s film Angry Indian Goddesses that released recently is partly
about a lesbian marriage, and therefore the one to face the brunt of
the editor’s scissors is Tannishtha Chatterjee who plays Sara Jane
Dias’ lover. Majority of her scenes were chopped off as they were
love-making and intimate same-sex scenes with Sara.
Tannishtha’s scenes were edited out not only in India, but also abroad. Now Tannishtha has sworn off love-making scenes. Heterosexual or same-sex. Says the actress, “This is my third film in a row where my intimate scenes have been chopped off. My love-making scenes in Leena Yadav’s Parched and Bikas Ranjan Mishra’s Chauranga have also been edited out. I won’t do any more intimate scenes. There is no point in doing them when all the effort goes to waste.”
