Shahid's missus, Mira Rajput, has planned an intimate dinner with her in-laws at the couple's Juhu residence. "It's going to be a double celebration as it's bhabhi's first Diwali with us which comes soon after my acting debut in Shaandaar. We are all so excited," Shahid's younger sister Sanah Kapur told Mirror.

Her brother has been travelling, "sending love from the middle of nowhere", leaving all the prep to Mrs Kapoor. He will join the family festivities on D-day.

"All of us love Punjabi food so rajma, chana, paneer and mithai will definitely be on the menu. But don't ask me more, only bhabhi knows all the details," Sanah laughs, adding that she gets along really well with her sister-in-law. "We hit it off even before the wedding. Mira is an amazing girl and has quickly become such an integral part of our family. She keeps telling me not to call her bhabhi as we are both the same age but I still do."

Sanah remembers going on vacations with her family to different parts of the country to bring in Diwali. "I have been celebrating with friends for the last few years. We meet, light diyas, gorge on good food and play games. And I love dressing up in traditional clothes," she says.

Sanah has one more thing to look forward to as she brings in the festival of lights— she will be making her social media debut this Diwali. "I am not very good with tech but a lot of people have been telling me to go on Facebook and Twitter. And I finally am," says the star kid.

And is she disappointed that her first film, which also featured her father, Pankaj Kapur, and brother Shahid, didn't live up to expectations? "No, not really, people have appreciated my performance," she shrugs, saying she has been reading scripts and might do another film with her father.

Shahid Kapoor, who will be celebrating his first Diwali with wife Mira Rajput, is hosting an intimate get-together for his close friends and family tomorrow night at his Juhu apartment. Mira’s family from Delhi is expected to join the couple as will his mother Neelima Azim and his younger brother Ishaan, father Pankaj Kapur with wife Supriya and their two children. Shahid, who has just returned from Sri Lanka from a brief holiday with Mira on Sunday, has been calling his friends to invite them over.

Shahid’s mother Neelima confirms, “This Diwali, like our usual ones, we will be lighting diyas, visiting each other’s homes and exchanging gifts. Diwali for us, is special family time. Shahid and Mira will come over during the day and will have a party on Diwali night which will be attended by close friends and family. Usually, we divide the parties between grown-ups and youngsters, but not this year. After some time, the grown-ups will take off and the youngsters will be left alone.” It’s also the first year she gets to spend Diwali with her daughter-in-law. “Yes. I’ll give her a gift too. But it’s not just on Diwali. I always give something or the other to Mira.”

The proud saas is all praise for Mira. “She’s a nice down-to-earth and grounded girl who has given us a lot of love. Mira is very relaxed and natural and now a part of the family. Ishaan calls her Barbie Doll and she loves it.”
