Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha has been certified with a ‘U/A’ censor certificate and has been issued five cuts. One of these cuts is a long, lingering, sensual kiss between Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. Says a source, “The Censor Board found the kiss too hot to handle. Apparently it is the lengthiest kiss — even longer and more passionate than the one between Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor in Raja Hindustani.”
There are also three verbal cuts, including the word ‘pole’, which was seen to be too phallic and the term ‘apna haath jagannath’ which is often a term for self-pleasuring. These have been removed. That apart, the film has been left intact by the Censor Board.
Says a source, “The Board members loved the film. The chemistry between Ranbir and Deepika crackles... sometimes too much, specially in the kissing scenes.”
