Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan who turned 80 on November 24 brought in his birthday with family and friends at his Bandra apartment. The Khan-daan had planned the party well in advance and among the guests were Salman's favourite director buddies, Kabir Khan, David Dhawan and Sajid Nadiadwala, the latter being accompanied by wife Warda. Also present were cricketer Shoaib Akhtar, Salman's ex-girlfriend, actress Sangeeta Bijlani and BJP spokesperson Shaina NC among others.

A guest described the veteran scriptwriter as a "rock star", made a special mention of the "amazing" food and added that the party went on till the wee hours.

Son Arbaaz was away shooting in Goa but shared a picture of himself with his dad and brothers and a sweet note wishing the father health and happiness. "My dad means everything to me and my family, we all love him and respect him immensely. He's been the pillar of strength and inspiration to us all. May allah give him a long life love you dad (sic)," wrote Arbaaz.

Daughter Arpita was also away, holidaying in London with hubby Aayush. But she thanked the bakery for delivering, "the yummiest, nicest & the most last min cakes." It had "Happy 80th birthday to the best daddy in the whole wide world! Love you" scrawled across it. The b'day boy was wearing a cool cap with Mr Right written on it. When quizzed on his Big Day, he said nonchalantly, "It was like any other day, nice in its way."
