Although equality of sexes deems that men and women should be treated as equals, the question often arises if they think alike, especially when it comes to finance. Money is the bone of contention between Thakur (Omkar Kapoor) and Kusum (Ishita Raj) in producer Abhishek Pathak and director Luv Ranjan's Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, a sequel of their 2011 hit, Pyaar Ka Punchnama. Thakur is an engineer with a hefty salary who loves to splurge on his girlfriend, Kusum. She, on the other hand, is a feisty, independent young woman who loves to plan her expenses and insists that she and Thakur always go dutch. But does she really mean it?

When Omkar read the script of PKP2, he remembered his ex-girlfriend as he would always pay for all the expenses whenever they would go out. He had a déjà vu moment whenever he came across a scene about the reel-couple's finance-related differences and could empathise with his character.
