These films received rave reviews in the international festival circuit; will screen in Mumbai for the first time

DHEEPAN
Winner of the prestigious Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival 2015, Jacques Audiard's Dheepan will screen in the Rendezvous section. The French drama follows a former soldier, a young woman and a little girl who pose as a family to escape the civil war in Sri Lanka.

45 YEARS
Andrew Haigh's 45 Years features in the World Cinema section. Impeccable as an old, married couple who have to cancel their 40th wedding anniversary when one of them has to undergo bypass surgery, Charlotte Rampling as the wife, Kater Mercer, won the Silver Bear for Best Actress and Tom Courtenay, as the husband Geoff, bagged the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival.

TAXI
The New York Times stated that Taxi should be a must-watch on every filmmakers list this year. A part of the film is about an encounter between two Iranian filmmakers, one, the film's director Jafar Panahi and the other, his niece, a sharptongued tween Hana, who must make a short movie as part of a school assignment, consistent with the government's censorship rules. It received the Golden Bear and the FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics) prize at Berlinale.

ANGRY INDIAN GODDESSES
Pan Nalin's cosmic drama about Indian goddesses losing their heads and finding their hearts, Angry Indian Godesses received a standing ovation at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). It is a special screening at MAMI.

THITHI
Debutant director Raam Reddy describes Thithi as "a little piece of India's soul". The Bangalore based director confesses that he had absolutely no idea that he'd be a filmmaker, "specially a playful one". A dramatic comedy about how three generations of sons react to the death of Gowda, a cranky 101-year-old man, will be screened in the International Competition section. The film bagged two awards at the 68th Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland, including the prestigious Swatch Award for Best First Feature, awarded by a separate jury.
