WILL SHAANDAAR BE ANOTHER QUEEN?
Queen was one of the biggest surprises of 2014. The film has a tremendous repeat value and gave an excellent message that was loved by almost all those who saw the movie. Hence, there is tremendous excitement for Shaandaar, not just for Shahid Kapoor-Alia Bhatt pairing but also because it is directed by the Queen director Vikas Bahl. As evident from the promos, Shaandaar is about a destination wedding and the madness around it. Shahid plays the wedding planner while Alia plays the sister of the bride, played by Shahid’s sister Sanah. And moreover, Shahid’s father Pankaj Kapur too features in the film. The film is shot in the beautiful locations of UK. The trailer is great and it makes it clear that the movie is a fun entertainer. Shahid-Alia look great together and their chemistry is something to watch out for. Songs are damn good and have worked. Hoepfully, the music will grow even more after the film is out. Shaandaar releases tomorrow on a Thursday (Dussehra) and hence it has the advantage of a 4-day weekend. In fact, if the film works big time with audiences, it can have a dream run till Diwali which is 3 weeks away.
However, the audience has to accept the film whole heartedly for that. The cost is huge and it really needs acceptance from family audiences to recover its investment. The film however doesn’t look like a family entertainer and has some double meaning jokes which can limit its reach. Also, it looks like an urban film and whether it can connect with the audiences in small towns remains to be seen.
Nevertheless, a huge opening is expected for sure and here’s hoping Shaandaar turns out to be a great film and hopefully emerges as the first 100 crore grosser of Shahid Kapoor!
WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE SHAANDAAR AND WHY? DO LET ME KNOW!
