MUMBAI MIRROR (September 15, 2015)

Filmmaker Vipul Amrutlal Shah, who directed the original 2002 thriller-heist, Aankhen, has signed Nawazuddin Siddiqui for the sequel. "Like the earlier film, this one too revolves around three blind men," a source close to the actor informed. "Arjun (Rampal) is a part of Aankhen 2 too."

Vipul, who is currently in Budapest with John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha for the second instalment to his 2011 action-thriller, Force, will begin the Aankhen sequel next year.

The original film revolved around Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) who loses his bank job and plots his revenge by organising a robbery in the same bank. And the thieves - Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal and Paresh Rawal - are blind, mentored by a teacher at a visually-impaired school, Sushmita Sen. The film had two climaxes - in one Vijay is jailed and the three blind men live happily ever after with the loot. In the other, Vijay bribes the cops, is freed and comes after the men as they are about to leave the city.

"The script of Aankhen 2 has been locked and the film takes off 13 years after that robbery. The title is yet to be finalised," adds a source.
