Filmmaker Ayan Mukerji was the first to arrive at Guneet Monga's bash thrown for Elijah Wood's band Wooden Wisdom. But the Hobbit from The Lord of the Rings trilogy was busy downing drinks at an infamous suburban bar, Janta, with partners, DJ-musician Zach Cowie and DJ Fitz. "I wanted to chill with the locals, their energy was crazy," Elijah told Mirror when he walked into the SoBo restaurant at midnight.
Abhay Deol, dimples flashing, admitted he rarely attends parties. "But I couldn't resist and loved my brief encounter with Elijah, he's extremely polite," he raved.
The firang was ready for anything, even sweeping a female fan off her feet with a simulated kiss, like on a red carpet. As the music grew louder, he shook a leg with Richa Chadha, slim and sexy in a figure-hugging black dress and heels. She has lost eight kilos recently for Pooja Bhatt's, Love Affair. Keeping her company was her Masaan costars, Vicky Kaushal and Shweta Tripathi and Zubaan director, Mozez Singh.
Ali Fazal, who had recently returned from a shoot in China, looked googly-eyed, while, Aditi Rao Hydari was chic and sporty. But it was Ishaan Khattar, Shahid Kapoor's younger brother, who set the floor on fire with his hip-hop moves. He danced till the wee hours on English tracks by The Black Eyed Peas, Jay Z and Justin Timberlake.
"These are not Shiamak's (Shiamak Davar, choreographer) moves but my unique style of dancing," said the 19 year-old, who chivalrously offered to drop not-so-sober friends home. Besides him, dancing like there's no tomorrow, was Tannishtha Chatterjee who flew off to Italy after the party. Her films, Parched and Angry Indian Goddesses, will be screened at the Venice Film Festival. "I was packing my bags when Guneet called. There was no way I was missing out on an Elijah party," she beamed. 34 year-old actormusician Elijah, flies back to the US on Wednesday. After "pretty nice" shows in Delhi and "Hydera-BAD", he smiles, "Mumbai was the greatest! We're going to Chor Bazaar tomorrow... And I'm surely coming back to Mumbai for a tour, next year."
