Salman Khan holds forth on the similarities between his Sultan and Aamir’s Dangal…
Nayandeep Rakshit (DNA; September 7, 2015)
Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal went on floors last week.
Salman Khan starter Sultan is all set to roll in November. While Sultan
releases next Eid, Dangal comes five months after, on Christmas. The
problem? Both have the game of wrestling as the backdrop.
Our source tells us, “Aamir is concerned about the similarities between the two films. He has worked really hard for Dangal, even putting on over 30 kgs risking his health in the bargain. Now, with Sultan is releasing before Dangal, he’s worried that his film might suffer.”
Ask Salman about it and he laughs it off. “Aamir doesn’t need to worry at all. Dangal has a beautiful script. Aamir plays a father in the film. In Sultan, I don’t have any children. I just have to battle my opponents in the ring. There is no negative force in Sultan, there’s just me and a love story that takes the story forward.”
Sultan director Ali Abbas Zafar, chips in, “Dangal and Sultan are two very different films. Theirs is a biopic. Ours isn’t. Sultan is about this fictional character of the same name, in a very real, rural set-up.”
HUMNE SUNA HAI!
“To add to Aamir’s woes, he learnt that the Sultan team was scouting the same locations in Haryana. So he called up good friend Aditya Chopra and requested that his team change the location to Punjab. But that hasn’t happened,” adds our insider. Phantom released months after Baby. Both had similar stories. The audiences warmed to both the films. Kuch seekho, Aamir!
