Censor chief Pahlaj Nihalani is burning the midnight oil. He has taken time off to record a song in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The track called Mera Desh Hai Mahaan was recorded last week at Kailash Studios in Mumbai, with Divya Kumar singing the single with lyrics penned by Hina Khan. Those in the know say it targets the youth as the prime movers and architects of Mr Modi’s dream of a New India. In fact, say sources, Pahlaj plans to pitch it as anthem for the BJP.
But ask him to speak about it and he clams up. “I don’t want it to seem like I am using the Prime Minister’s name. The fact is, the song has been in the making for many months now. We wanted a number that would epitomise Modiji’s dream of a new India. We finally got that number. Our aim is to see that the songs play in every household of India,” he says.
