MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION had a good weekend as it grossed 26.50 crore nett including paid previews but the figures are well short of films like FAST & FURIOUS 7 and AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON which took business for Hollywood releases to another level. The three day business of the film is at a similar level to THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (2012) and the fourth or fifth highest weekend ever for Hollywood releases.
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - GHOST PROTOCOL grossed 47.75 crore nett in 2011. This film should manage to go above that but will find it hard to hit 75 crore nett which is the benchmark for Hollywood releases with three films surpassing it and FAST & FURIOUS 7 even going to 95 crore nett.
BANGISTAN had a poor weekend of 3.50-3.75 crore nett and the trend was also not good. JAANISAAR was a washout and there was also a release from Pakistan named BIN ROYE which was also a washout.
------------------------
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION dropped on Monday with collections of 3 crore nett approx. The drop is 50% from Friday which is more than it should have been. The four day total is 29.50 crore nett which includes paid previews. The drops are there in all circuits.
The three biggest grossers in India of all time from Hollywood have come this year in the form of FAST & FURIOUS 7, JURASSIC WORLD and AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON signalling healthy growth for big Hollywood releases. But MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION will remain well short of those films. The film is probably looking looking at a week of 38 crore nett and lifetime of 55 crore nett which is only 15% more than the last MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE film in 2011.
BANGISTAN also dropped 50% on Monday to collect 50 lakhs nett apprx. The film faced rejection by the audience on day one itself and this is par for the course now. The week will be around 5.25-5 .50 crore nett and will not add much thereafter.
